Biden Visits Border, Mexico

Focus on Security, Migration

By VALERIE GONZALEZ and PAUL J

McALLEN, Texas (AP) — President Joe Biden on Sunday visited the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas, where he met with border patrol agents and discussed the ongoing crisis of illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

Biden's visit came as the Supreme Court is set to hear arguments on March 19 in a case challenging the Biden administration's attempt to end the Trump-era "Remain in Mexico" policy, which required asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their cases were processed in U.S. courts.

During his visit, Biden emphasized the need to secure the border while also addressing the humanitarian needs of migrants. He also met with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Mexico City to discuss regional cooperation on migration and border security.
